One Family’s Support for the Lights for Love Appeal

A Tradition Begins

Our family has proudly supported the Lights for Love Appeal since 2001. My husband’s aunt, Marjorie Sullivan, was one of the first to take part after her husband, Jim, received care from the hospice before he sadly passed away.

A Memorable First Year

That year, my husband John and I went to the Lights for Love service with our daughters, Kathleen and Chelsea, aged six and four. Chelsea was photographed at the event - a moment we will always treasure.

Carrying the Tradition Forward

After Marjorie passed, my sister and brother-in-law, Janice and David, continued her tradition. Now, all of Marjorie’s extended family go to the Minster Abbey service. My brother-in-law Michael and his wife Valerie travel from Dorset, and another brother-in-law Christopher comes into Kent from London with his wife Sharon. We also now have another daughter, Autumn, and together, we all go along, honouring loved ones and supporting the hospice.

Passing on the Legacy

Twenty-four years later, Chelsea is grown with two children of her own. It means so much to us that the next generation is part of this special act of remembrance and kindness.

A Cherished Tradition

For our family, the Lights for Love Appeal is more than an event. It’s a treasured moment of reflection, love, and community. It’s our way of saying thank you to The Wisdom Hospice and keeping Marjorie’s spirit of giving alive. We look forward to supporting it for many years to come.
