Hawksafe Health, Safety and Environmental Training and Consultancy have released 10 Level 1 Food Safety Catering training courses to The Wisdom Hospice. Supporting the work of The Wisdom Hospice

The Friends of the Wisdom Hospice is a charity whose sole purpose is to raise funds to reinforce the fantastic care and support delivered by the wonderful team at The Wisdom Hospice. Named after local resident and pioneer fundraiser Molly Wisdom, the Hospice was opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth in October 1984.

The Wisdom Hospice is the only adult hospice serving the residents of Medway & Swale, providing specialist palliative care to patients with life limiting conditions. The Friends of the Wisdom Hospice contributes towards the running costs of the hospice with an annual grant made to Medway Community Healthcare. The grant for the current year is £690,000.  In addition, and when funds allow, The Friends fund extra equipment and facilities that fall outside of the NHS budget.

One way in which The Friends raise their funds is by running the tearoom at Restoration House. Their skillful team of volunteers man the tearoom offering a range of mouthwatering homemade cakes and other refreshments to visitors of Restoration House. All proceeds from the tearoom goes to supporting hospice care in our local area.

Level 1 Food Safety - Catering Training Courses

The courses provided will give the volunteers and staff at The Restoration Tea Rooms a set of practices they can put in place to reduce health hazards.

The course includes a grounding in:

  • Premises hygiene

  • Personal hygiene

  • Risk control

  • Pest control

  • Waste management

This level 1 course ultimately will help the staff and volunteers at the Tea Room maintain a

sanitary environment and minimise the potential hazards which could impact all visitors.

The course is approved by the CPD, Gatehouse Awards, Institute of Hospitality and IIRSM and provides 2 CPD units.

Comments on Hawksafe's donation

"An enormous thank you to our incredible corporate partners Hawksafe who are supporting our volunteers running this year's Restoration House tearooms by supplying ten online food safety courses. We wouldn't be able to run our tearooms if it wasn't for Hawksafe's kind generosity."

Emma Dengate, Fundraising Co-ordinator, Wisdom Hospice

"Emma and the team at the Hospice provide an amazing service to people in our community with terminal illnesses, but also to their friends and families and I can personally vouch for this."

Andy Haith, Managing Director, Hawksafe
