Your Hospice Lottery
Our fundraising lottery is going from strength to strength having raised over £70,000 for the Friends of the Wisdom Hospice so far and with over 5,000 plays in the draw each week. We would like to thank the wonderful loyal members who have supported us by playing Your Hospice Lottery – you have really made a difference to people in need of hospice care.
Of course, it’s not only the hospice that wins with Your Hospice Lottery, as Rachel Selves found out when she won £1,000 in the Christmas 2017 draw!
Rachel said: “A few days after Christmas, I received an envelope through the post with `hospice lottery` stamped on the front. I began donating a small monthly sum to the hospice lottery a couple of years ago but never really gave any thought to winning anything, as I was happy to donate to such a worthwhile cause. I was absolutely delighted to open the envelope and find inside a letter to tell me that I was the lucky person to win a prize in the December draw and a cheque enclosed for one thousand pounds! I was thrilled with such an unexpected win and have plans to use the money for a holiday later in the year. I would definitely encourage others to sign up and donate a small amount each month, as this makes such a valuable contribution to the amazing work that the hospice and their dedicated staff do and you never know, you may be a lucky winner like me. It has certainly reminded me how fortunate we are to have the amazing support and care that the hospice offers. Thank you to all involved in organising the lottery and I sincerely hope that others will be encouraged to join.”
Rachel was one of six people playing in support of The Friends of the Wisdom Hospice to win the £1,000 prize in 2017. Plus, with a total of 23 prize winners amongst our supporters in the 22nd December draw; more than any other draw in 2017, it was the luckiest week of the year for our lottery players.
Overall, 2017 was a rewarding year for our lottery players generating over 712 winners, paying out a total of £13,720 in prize money.

Your Hospice Lottery supports 9 other hospices through their weekly lottery draw and has raised in excess of £8 million for hospice care.
Not only was this massive fundraising milestone reached during 2017 but the biggest ever rollover prize of £10,000 was given away on 1st December. This is the first time the jackpot has reached this amount since the rollover draw was launched in December 2013. In fact, the highest it has ever reached previously, was £7,500 won by a lucky Friends of the Wisdom player in July 2016.
